My first sculpture was done as a farm boy at the age of 10 when I nailed a bunch of worn-out farm machinery parts to a fence post.
After leaving the farm I served in the army and then worked on construction until my retirement.
During my working years I took some night classes, worked with an expert wood carver, and had an opportunity to work with Triguie Rovelstead. He was my first instructor and designed several U.S. coins and Badges. Rovelstead was a protege of sculptor Leonardo Taft. When I retired at the age of 60 I decided it was my time explore artistic avenues. I took several classes and have worked with many different mediums at Elgin Community College, but Independent sculpture/glass seems to be my main stapple.
I have exhibited work at: The Kane County Campbell House, The Norris Gallery, Elgin City Hall, Elgin Academy, Carswell's, Sherman's Hospital, Art Showcase, the Enrichment Series, Carpentersville Village Hall, St. Charles River Walk, and The Aurora Public Art Commission.
